ISLAMABAD:
The gender gap in Pakistan’s electoral lists has narrowed from 11.8% in 2018 to 7.1% in 2025, Secretary Omer Hameed Khan said on Thursday.
Speaking at a board review meeting of the project under the Pakistan Legislative, Electoral, Digital Governance and Empowerment (PLEDGE) initiative, Khan noted that women’s voter registration has surpassed that of men in the last five years, with women registering increasing by 27% compared to a 17% increase among men.
She said progress was made through four-phase campaigns to obtain national identity cards for women and voter registration.
