A 16 -year -old girl died after falling from the window of an eighth apartment in the neighborhood of Norte de Nazimabad in Karachi, police said on Monday.
The victim, identified as Anadiya, was found outside the Sky Blue Apartments near the ISA laboratory in block H. Rescue workers transported their body to the Abbasi Shaheed hospital, where doctors confirmed their death.
According to the police, Anadiya’s family was not present at the time of the incident. His parents and two sisters had gone shopping, leaving her at home with her twin sister, Maryam. The authorities said Maryam was in a state of shock, preventing them from registering their statement immediately.
Initial investigations suggest that Anadiya may have jumped from the window. Police pointed out that the window size made it difficult for someone to accidentally come out, which increases suspicions. They also observed that the place where his body was found was significantly further from the building than expected, deepening the doubts about the circumstances.
According to reports, Anadiya was receiving treatment for mental health problems in a private hospital. His family mentioned that he had recently shown a growing interest in religion.
Authorities expect family statements, particularly parents, who are currently too distressed to provide accounts. Police have delivered the body to the family after completing the initial legal procedures.
Earlier this week, a woman suspicious of drug trafficking and addiction died after jumping from the fourth floor of a residential building in Karachi’s defense phase 6 during a police raid.
According to the police, the woman, who supposedly sold drugs, fell from the building while trying to avoid arrest. She was taken to the Jinnah hospital, but succumbed to her wounds during treatment.
The raid followed the arrest of a drug dealer called Ubaid near Sea View. Based on their information, the Police, accompanied by female search, tried to enter the Women’s Department, but she refused to open the door and ended up falling from the balcony.
Police said they recovered drugs, including glass methamphetamine (ice) and drug paraphernalia of their apartment.
