Update: Google finally communicated with more comments on the delay of Pixel 9A, saying:
“The rumors and speculation about this delay are false. A passive component in Pixel 9A did not meet our rigorous quality standards for the longevity of the device and, instead of sending it, we make the difficult decision to delay the shelf and take corrective measures on the small number of units affected.”
Google Pixel 9A was announced in mid -March, but Google almost immediately delayed the sale of the phone, telling us that it would be available at some point in April. Finally we have the exact day that Pixel 9a should appear on the shelves, and will arrive in the United States, the United Kingdom and Canada first on April 10. Then, it will go on sale in Europe on April 14, followed by Australia and Asia on April 16.
The new Pixel 9A will cost $ 499 / £ 499 / AU $ 849, and for that price, it will get 8 GB of RAM with 128 GB of storage. The phone will be available in four colors: Obsidian Black, Porcelain White, Peony Pink and Iris Lavender. I had to spend thirty minutes with the new phone in a brief view, and I hope to have a complete review in Techradar as soon as possible.

Pixel 9a was mysteriously delayed and Google would only say that there was a component problem with the phone. Recent rumors have suggested that Pixel 9A could have had problems with camera overheating. These rumors say that the problem will be solved with a software update, which fits the brief moment of this delay. Since then, Google has completely denied that these rumors referred to Pixel 9a, and you can read their previous complete comment.
If there had been a real hardware component that should be replaced, we could have been seeing weeks or even months of waiting before Pixel 9a reached the shelves.
I have reviewed most of the best phones that you can buy and, frankly, camera overheating is a very common problem these days. I have had overheating problems with my iPhone 16 Pro, Google Pixel 9 Pro and Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra that required all phones to go out during intense outdoor photo sessions. It is great that Google has caught this problem and, hopefully, Pixel 9a will not have the same problems as those flagship phones.
Of course, Google has not officially confirmed any specific reason for delay, so we can only speculate. We hope to have a complete review of the 9A Pixel in Techradar shortly, and we will certainly put the camera, and any other component, through exhaustive evidence to ensure that we can resist our intense expectations.
