The Government has raised concerns about the safety risks raised by portable intelligent devices, including smart watches and physical conditioning trackers, labeling them as a potential threat to cybersecurity, said Express News.
The National Telecommunications Technology Board and Information Technology (NTISB) issued advice, warning that these devices could compromise confidential information. According to the sources, the Cabinet Division has recommended a prohibition of the use of these devices in sensitive locations.
The cybersecurity notice highlighted the risks of data leakage and unauthorized monitoring raised by portable devices. “These smart devices are being used to filter confidential information, and their use in confidential locations could lead to cyber attacks,” the warning said.
The NTISB also reported that before any use of these devices in sensitive locations, an exhaustive review of its security mechanisms must be carried out. The notice also recommended imposing restrictions on its use during crucial meetings or locations that deal with sensitive operations.
With concerns on privacy and increasing national security, advice indicates a growing approach to safeguarding digital environments against possible threats.
