The Government has officially designated May 16 as a “Yom-E-Tashakur” (day of gratitude) to commemorate significant achievements in the Bunyanum Marsoos and Ma’araka-E-E-HAQ operation, while making it clear that no holiday will be observed in the day.
Yom-E-Tashakur will be held throughout the country on Friday, to honor the historical victory of Marka-E-Haq and pay tribute to the brave armed forces and people of Pakistan, Radio Pakistan reported Thursday.
After the announcement, a notification began to circulate widely on social networks, claiming that on May 16 it would be observed as a holiday throughout the country, with all closed schools and offices.
However, the official government sources have dismissed these statements, clarifying that there will not be a holiday on May 16. The authorities have unequivocally declared that the viral notification is false, and said directive has not been issued.
“The day of gratitude will be observed nationwide, but does not imply a general vacation,” the sources confirmed, urging citizens to trust the verified channels to obtain precise information.
