The Federal Government has ordered all ministries and divisions that return unused funds of the current fiscal year for April 30, 2025. The decision has been taken as part of the preparation process for the next federal budget for fiscal year 2025–26.
According to sources from the Ministry of Finance, clear instructions have been issued to all main accounting officers (PAO) in the ministries and divisions, establishing the deadline of April 30 to guarantee the recovery of early surplus funds of the fiscal year 2024–25.
The authorities declared that the measure follows the guidelines issued by the Public Accounts Committee. The Ministry of Finance emphasized that the timely performance of these funds is essential not only to finish the reviewed estimates for the current fiscal year, but also to strengthen projections for the next federal budget.
Returned funds are expected to include expense savings of civil government, subsidies and development assignments.
According to the ministry figures, the total development budget for the current fiscal year was established at RS1,100 billion. However, only RS450 billion have been spent so far. The remaining non -spent funds will be reassigned to the sectors that require immediate financial support.
The Ministry of Finance has reiterated its commitment to guarantee prudent fiscal management and the efficient allocation of resources as prepared for the new financial year.
