At DC, Darkseid is considered the main villain, but his entry into the new franchise will not happen, says studio co-head James Gunn.
He explains his reasoning for not including the antagonist in an interview with New rock starssharing that the Lord of Apokolips bears a similarity to Marvel’s enemy, Thanos.
“The aspects of Darkseid and Thanos are obviously very similar,” he adds. “They look very similar, and so I think to give you probably more of an answer than you were expecting, using Darkseid as the big bad right now is not necessarily the solution, for many reasons.”

“Because Zack made it great in his own way and thanks to Thanos and Marvel,” says the filmmaker, referring to Zack Snyder, who previously made the DCEU films.
Previously, James shed light on his plans for the next Superman part. “The Man of Tomorrow was an idea I’ve had for a long time. I think I know the next ones I’m directing, so, frankly, I already know.”
“As it is part of the DCU plan, there is a big story. On the one hand, I want everything to be good to see on its own,” he concluded.
