Rawalpindi:
Amid increasing temperatures, health authorities and district administration have issued an official heat alert for Rawalpindi.
The three allied hospitals of the city are experiencing an increase in patients suffering from heat -related diseases.
The heat wave in progress in twin cities has led to an increase in cases of diarrhea, eye irritation, skin conditions, nasal hemorrhages, respiratory problems, headaches, vomiting and suns.
Daily, between 2,500 and 3,000 patients, adults and children equally, they are being treated in these hospitals.
Local clinics in all neighborhoods are also overwhelmed with similar cases.
The deputy medical superintendent of the General Hospital of Benazir Bhutto, Dr. Inayat and the senior medical officer of the Holy Family Hospital, Dr. Jameel, advised the public to avoid going outdoors during the maximum hours of sunlight unless it is absolutely necessary.
They recommended to wear sunglasses and dark green masks, transport cold water bottles, wear wet towels or scarves and keep their heads covered.
In addition, they urged people to avoid consuming street foods such as shaved ice, ice cream, fried snacks and spicy sweets like Gol Gappay. Drinking water is advised immediately after eating watermelon. People are advised to consume lemon water regularly, drink green tea once a day and avoid fatty and fried foods.
The use of glucose and fresh raw vegetables such as radish, carrots and cucumbers is recommended.
In cases of supplies or nasal hemorrhages, an immediate consultation with a close doctor is recommended.
In response to intensifying heat, the Department of Education has allowed students to wear light and comfortable clothes in schools.
All government and private schools have received instructions to guarantee the availability of clean drinking water and fans that work in the classrooms.
Due to the increase in temperatures, summer holidays can be announced a week earlier than scheduled, as of May 26.
A circular is expected with respect to this decision on Monday or Tuesday. Meanwhile, schools have reported a remarkable fall in students’ assistance due to extreme heat.
