President Asif Ali Zardari is showing signs of recovery, according to his doctor, Dr. As Hussain, local media reported on Friday. The president, who tested positive for COVID-19 on April 2, is currently being treated in a private hospital in Karachi.
Hussain confirmed that a recent rapid test for COVID-19 returned negative, but President Zardari continues to be monitored by infectious disease specialists. “It undergoes physiotherapy and will probably remain hospitalized for a few more days,” said the doctor.
The medical experts of the Department of Infectious Diseases of the Hospital are examining the president three times a day, he said, adding that doctors have restricted all visits as a precautionary measure.
The president’s family is receiving regular health updates, and recent blood analysis reports have shown promising results, said Dr. AsiM.
Zardari was initially in Nawabshah, but then he was transferred to Karachi to obtain better medical care, a movement that his doctor described as appropriate and beneficial. The president is still under a nearby observation, and health officials continue to monitor their condition as part of a cautious recovery process.
