The heat of the wave cushions eid recreation

Fine:

A severe heat wave seized South Punjab during EID holidays, which forced people to remain inside as temperatures rose up to 45 degrees Celsius throughout the region.

Public parks, recreational places and streets carried out a desert appearance during what is generally a holiday season.

The extreme heat left little space for traditional family exits or outdoor celebrations. “It’s too hot. We don’t even want to leave the house,” said Salman Amjad, a local resident. “You feel exhausted at the time you open the door.”

According to the Department of Meteorology, the heat wave is expected to persist until June 12, without a significant fall in the temperature forecast in the next few days.

Many residents, especially those who returned to their hometown for EID, preferred to remain inside with their families. “We chose to stay inside. After eating meat, heat feels even more unbearable,” As As As, said a Nawabpur resident.

An expert in medical care, Dr. Waqas Arqam, warned that high temperatures, combined with heavy meat intake in EID, can cause dehydration and fatigue.

He advised citizens to drink a lot of water, avoid exposure to the sun and limit physical activity.

Local authorities also reported a remarkable fall in the footprint in public places, with parks, game areas and tourist places largely empty in the three days of EID.
