The historic Gurdwara of Peshawar faces ruin

Peshawar:

The Bhai Joga Singh Gurdwara century, one of the historic places of Sij de Peshawar cult, has fallen into poor condition due to the lack of release of funds for its restoration.

The Gurdwara, located in the densely populated Dabgari area, suffered serious damage to the 2005 devastating earthquake, but remains without repairing until today.

The structure, which is believed to be over 200 years old, is now in a fragile state. Cracks have appeared on the walls of their upper floors and rooms, while rainwater is filtered through damaged ceilings, worsening their condition over time.

The minority members of the Provincial Assembly (MPAS) Gurpal Singh and Askar Pervez visited the site recently and expressed a serious concern about their deterioration state. MPA Gurpal Singh said that repeated appeals were made to the interested authorities for the release of funds, but so far they have not advanced.

The two legislators have jointly presented a resolution to the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, urging the Federal Government to assign funds immediately for the reconstruction and repair of the Gurdwara. They stressed that the historical religious site, damaged in the 2005 earthquake, must be preserved without further delay.
