Karachi:
The Pakistani army spokesman has warned that any serious escalation between the two neighbors with nuclear weapons could have catastrophic consequences.
“The world now recognizes the scope of the nuclear threat. Any sensible player, such as the United States, understands this absurd and what the Indians are trying to do here,” said the LT of DG ISPR, Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, in an interview with Sky News. “If India thinks she can forge a space for war between India and Pakistan, it is actually a recipe to carve mutual destruction,” he added.
The military spokesman warned New Delhi a “fast and safe response” if he violated the fire with Pakistan. He added that any serious climbing among neighbors with nuclear weapons would lead to mutual destruction.
The warning occurred when an uncomfortable truce is maintained between the two rivals in the midst of implacable verbal duels on the military hostilities caused by a mortal uproar in the Pahalgam area of India occupied by Jammu and Kashmir (Iiojk) that killed 26 tourists. India blamed Pakistan for the assault, an accusation strongly denied by Islamabad.
The dispute on the Himalayas region has affected the relationship between the two neighbors since its inception in 1947, however, the unilateral decision of India in August 2019 to strip the disputed region of its autonomy had effectively ended in any normality that existed in its bilateral relationship.
Lieutenant General Chaudhry accused India of trying to “internalize” the problem of Kashmir and “harass” the predominantly Muslim population of the region. “This (Kashmira) is a problem that must be solved by the people of Kashmiro according to the resolutions of the United Nations Security Council,” he added.
