More than 2.96 million regular licenses to motorcyclists were issued throughout Punjab in a year, a Punjab traffic police spokesman said on Saturday.
The spokesman added that, for the first time in the history of the country, such a large installation had been provided to motorcyclists. Of the total, more than 2,945 million men, more than 14,000 women and more than 100 transgender people obtained motorcycle driving licenses.
Dig Traffic Punjab Muhammad Waqas Nazir said that the installation of acquiring learning and regular motorcycles licenses the same day, introduced last year, would continue throughout the province.
“He is encouraging that more than 2.9 million motorcyclists now lead with licenses,” said Nazir. “The issuance of licenses will lead to a significant reduction in accidents and is also creating employment opportunities.”
He urged motorcyclists to obtain licenses and “driving with dignity.”

Earlier this year, it was reported that traffic accidents in Punjab have increased by 29% in January, contradicting the statements of the Traffic Police of the city of Lahore (CTPL) about a better traffic management.
According to the official data of the Punjab Emergency Services Department (Rescue 1122), the province witnessed a general increase of 16.08% in emergencies last month, which increases concerns about public safety and the effectiveness of traffic application measures.
Punjab reported a total of 196,963 emergencies in January 2025, compared to 169,625 cases in January 2024.
The most notable increases were recorded in traffic accidents, with 38,791 cases reported, 29% more than 30,063 in January 2024. Fire incidents also saw a strong increase, reaching 2,356 cases, an increase of 37.3% of 1,716 last year.
Medical emergencies increased by 12.3%, with 135,191 cases compared to 120,363 the previous year. Crime -related emergencies increased to 3,132 cases, reflecting a 22.6% increase in 2,555. In addition, electric shock incidents increased by 21%, with 400 reported cases, while animal breakdown reached 722 cases, marking an increase of 15.2% of 627 cases in January 2024.
