Islamabad: In a significant advance, one of the main intelligence agencies has frustrated a great terrorist plot aimed at launching a mortal assault on the PAF Masroor Air Base strategically vital in Karachi, sources from the intelligence community revealed sources.

According to the officials, the complex plan was a teacher for a commander of the terrorist group based in Afghanistan Fitna al-Khawarij (FAK), who directs the notorious suicide squad of the group.

The plot involved nine strongly trained terrorists, five of which were Afghan national, led by a high -profile commander that already sought in multiple cases of terrorism.

The terrorists, who had recently infiltrated Pakistan of Afghanistan, intended to violate the air base through a preidized point, take control of the installation, destroy airplanes and infrastructure, and maintain the base as long as possible. His goal was to inflict the maximum damage and participate in a prolonged gunman until death.

According to the reports, the operation was under direct supervision of the main FAK leadership based in Afghanistan and involved almost thirteen months of planning. The terrorists had taken accommodation near the air base and carried out broad recognition of the area.

However, the Intelligence Agency had been closely monitoring its movements. When the attackers were about to start the final phase of their plot, the agency launched a quick, covert and coordinated operation, arrested the suspects from various places throughout the country.

The agency’s action not only protected the strategic air base, but also paralyzed a key fak terror network involved in several previous attacks, including the assault of November 2024 to Chinese engineers in Liberty Textile Mills in the Karachi site area.

It is believed that the same FAK commander captured in the current operation has attended that attack before fleeing to Afghanistan.

The authorities describe him as an IED expert, trained in Afghanistan and a former militant with the Afghan Taliban during his conflict with the NATO and ISAF forces.

Preliminary investigations suggest the participation of hostile intelligence agencies, which are supposedly financing and equipping terrorist elements in an attempt to destabilize Pakistan. The authorities pointed out a similar terrorist plot last October, in which Fak and hostile agencies had conspired to sabotage an important international event in Islamabad.

Despite such threats, the armed forces, intelligence services and the application agencies of Pakistan’s law remain firm in their mission of protecting the nation. The authorities reaffirmed their commitment to uproot terrorism in all its forms and safeguard national security through coordinated and implacable surveillance.
