- It is predicted that Touch ID is predicted on the next folding iPhone
- It is more likely to be integrated into the ignition button
- The same feature is available on several Apple iPads
After years and years of rumors, we could be only 12 months after the launch of the first folding iPhone, and according to a well -located typster, it is likely to come with an integrated contact id in the ignition button, instead of under the screen.
This comes from the Ming-Chi Kuo analyst, one of the most reliable sources when it comes to Apple predictions, and is an answer to the “market rumors” that the digital footprint sensor will be placed under the screen, as with many of the best Android phones.
Apple, of course, has never put a touch identification sensor under the screen of one of its products, although technology has been incorporated into the ignition button on several iPads, starting with the iPad Air 4 announced in September 2020.
That is the approach that the folding iPhone will use, says Kuo. The analyst has been doing this prediction for several months, but clearly felt that there were enough rumors to the contrary of making things clear.
No face identification
Six months ago, I predicted that the folding iPhone would use lateral touch ID. There are now rumors of the market that it will adopt an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor under exhibition, but I think it is unlikely. Luxshare ICT is expectedSeptember 1, 2025
It is worth noting that Kuo does not say that a low -exhibition tactile identification sensor is completely out of the table, only that it is “unlikely” at this stage, even naming the manufacturer that is online to supply the tactile identification module for the ignition button.
For a long time, it has been clear that the folding iPhone would use Touch ID. The most likely reason why Face ID is not being implemented is that the necessary cameras and sensors would add too much thickness to the phone.
It makes sense that Apple accompanies a technology that is already present in several of its tablets: it means that it can try to keep the costs as much as possible, and the folding iPhone is indeed an iPad (a 7.8 -inch main screen was rumored).
We should know with certainty in September 2026, which is when most tipsters agree that we will see that this iPhone fold makes its first official appearance. Meanwhile, the iPhone 17 will perform this time next week.
