The last ‘mini’ telephone we saw of Apple was the iphone 13 mini of 5.4 inches, which was launched in September 2021, and was replaced by the iPhone 14 Plus of 6.7 inches, and seems unlikely that Apple will bring a smaller iPhone model in the short term.
Bloomberg’s reporter Mark Gurman, who is generally a reliable source when it comes to Apple, said in a live Q&A (through Macrumors) that Apple “has really moved away” from smaller factors and that their engineers “are not working on a smaller iPhone at this time.”
The current iPhone line comprises the iPhone 16 of 6.1 inches, the iPhone 16 Plus of 6.7 inches, the iPhone 16 Pro of 6.3 inches and the iPhone 16 Pro max of 6.9 inches, so if you want something smaller of 6.1 inches in terms of screen size, it has no luck.
Gurman said Apple could one day reconsider its position if market pressures change, but do not expect anything in the predictable future. This year, the iPhone 16 Plus is expected to be replaced by the iPhone 17 Air, possibly with the same screen size.
Should Apple reconsider?
Apple never said anything officially, but market reports suggested that the iPhone 13 Mini was not a great seller, which probably sealed its destination. But according to many Techradar readers, the iPhone 13 Mini was the perfect size for a smartphone.
We executed a survey on the Techradar WhatsApp channel asking what the screen size of your favorite phone was. The upper part of the battery, with 241 votes of 799 (31%), was the largest size in addition to folding: 6.9 inches or larger phones, such as the iPhone 16 Pro Max.
Secondly, however, they were phones with screens of less than 6 inches of size, such as the iPhone 13 Mini. This size obtained 171 votes (21%), but unfortunately for the small telephone fans, it is becoming more difficult to find more compact phones.
Clearly, there are not enough people who like smaller phones and bought an iPhone 13 Mini, and Apple has taken note. If you fall in that category, you can try a folding flip like the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6.
