The Jamshoro District Council has submitted a tax free budget of RS549.8 million for fiscal year 2025-26. The budget was approved unanimously during a meeting of the Council chaired by the President of the Suhail Ahmed Shoro District Council.
According to the documents, the Sindh government did not release the full assigned funds last year, while employee salaries have increased in the current year. During the session, the accounts officer Pervez Baloch presented the breakdown of the budget, highlighting that RS207 million have been allocated to development projects.
Additional assignments include: RS40.88 million for pensions, press clubs, social work, cultural events and national celebrations; RS97.3 million for engineering and infrastructure works; and RS252.5 million for the salaries of the employees of the Council.
For the current year, the Government of Sindh is expected to contribute: RS352.1 million under the Chief of Taxes; RS7.05 million property rentals; and RS994,308 in other rentals.
President Shoro commented that due to a deficit in government subsidies and the non -transfer of funds for SUG employees (Sindh Urban Governance), the Council had to disburse the salaries of its assigned budget. In addition, the recovery of renting the properties owned by the District Council, such as stores and housing units, relax below 100%.
Meanwhile, the opposition leader Shahnawaz Barfat advocated greater assignments in development schemes and recommended the award of more projects from the Council to local contractors.
