Khawar Hussain, journalist and reporter based in Karachi for Dawn news Channel was found shot dead on Sanghar, police said.

SCPJMP seeks a police report on the death of Khawar Hussain

The Sindh Commission for the protection of journalists and other media practitioners (SCPJMP) has expressed concern about the sudden death of Khawar Hussain and has sought a detailed report from the police.

In a letter addressed to the Sanghar Senior Police Superintendent, the Commission ordered him to present the initial report on the incident. He also requested details of the research carried out and the actions taken so far.

The copies of the directive were sent to the president of SCPJMP, the focal person of Sanghar, the Secretary of the Department of Interior and the inspector General of the Sindh Police. The letter was issued by Saeed Memon, secretary of SCPJMP.

The president of the PPP, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, said that Hussain was an obedient and responsible professional whose sudden death was a shock for the media fraternity.

Sindh Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon called for his death an irreparable loss, while Sindh Interior Minister Zia-Ul-Hassan Lanjar looked for a SLP SST report from Sanghar and said that Hussain’s contributions to journalism were unforgettable.

The governor of Sindh, Kamran Tessori, Sindh Minister Nasir Shah, the mayor of Karachi, Murtaza Wahab and Shazia Marri, also expressed a deep sadness for their death.
