The Judicial Commission of Pakistan approves the main judges for the main superior courts


The Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP), under the presidency of the President of the Supreme Court Yahya Afridi, approved on Tuesday the appointments of main permanent judges for four main superior courts, including Peshawar, Baluchistan, Sindh and Islamabad.

According to the sources, Judge SM Attique Shah has been appointed as the permanent president of the Superior Court of Peshawar, he reported Express news.

His name was elected among three candidates, including Judge Ijaz Anwar and Judge Arshad Ali.

For the Superior Court of Baluchistan, Judge Rozi Khan was confirmed as the new president of the Supreme Court.

He was selected based on his upper seniority classification, before two other nominees, namely Judge Muhammad Kamran Khan and Judge Iqbal Ahmed Kasi.

Meanwhile, Judge Muhammad Junaid Ghafffar has been appointed as the permanent president of the Superior Court of Sindh. According to the reports, his appointment was unanimous, since he currently occupies the best place in the seniority list of the court.

The commission also deliberated on the main position of the Superior Court of Islamabad, reviewing the names of Judge Sarfraz Dogar, Judge Mohsin Akhtar Kayani and Judge Miangul Hassan Aurengzeb.

Judge Sardar Sarfraz Dogar was confirmed as the new president of the Supreme Court, ensuring a majority vote with nine JCP members in favor. He also leads the court of the court.

Meanwhile, Senator Ali Zafar, a member of the JCP affiliated with Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI), told the media out of the Supreme Court that his position remains firm, only that the highest judge must be appointed justice.

He pointed out that an intra-cat appeal with respect to the age of IHC judges is still pending and said the matter should not have been discussed until the appeal is decided.

“If our opinion is not accepted, we will vote accordingly,” he said, without revealing how he had cast his vote.

Previously, five IHC judges had challenged the order of the Apex court that supported the transfer of three judges to the IHC.

They have also requested the Apex court that restricts the three transferred judges, including the president of the Supreme Court Sarfraz Dogar, to perform any judicial or administrative functions as IHC judges.

The judges, including Judge Mohsin Akhtar Kayani, Judge Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri, Judge Babar Sattar, Judge Sardar Ijaz Ishaq Khan and Judge Saman Rafat Imtiaz, have presented an intra-court appeal against the order through the lawyers muneer to Malik and the lawyer of Salle Apex
