The Karakoram road was reopened after land landslides

LAHORE:

The Karakoram road has reopened after land landslides blocked some sections of the critical route, after a massive rock fall in Lotar in the upper district of Kohistan of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, left thousands of passengers stranded on both sides of the road.

According to the GBDMA, the rain continues since Monday caused rock landslides at 4 in the morning on Tuesday, completely blocking a section of 100 meters of the KKH in Locar, near the Diamer District of Gilgit-Baltistan. KKH is the only route that connects Gilgit-Baltistan with the rest of Pakistan during winter, which makes its closure a severe interruption for residents, merchants and travelers.
