It is likely that the cases related to the May 9 incident of ‘Vandalism and Shot’ in Mardan will be retired, according to official sources.
In this sense, the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has decided to withdraw the cases, General Defender Shah Faisal confirmed on Saturday. The cabinet has also given the approval of the case withdrawal.
According to the general lawyer, these cases were based on insufficient evidence, defective investigations and were largely seen as acts of political victimization.

Government sources also said that no progress had been made in these cases and continuing the procedure was wasting administrative resources and time.
KP’s prime minister Ali Amin Gandapur had taken note of the matter and requested a review of all these cases. Subsequently, the main minister approved the withdrawal of cases through the circulation of the cabinet.
After this approval, the Department of Origin was ordered to initiate the formal process of withdrawing the cases.
The general lawyer Shah Faisal also declared that lawyer Muhammad Inaam Yousafzai has been appointed special prosecutor to supervise legal procedures related to retirement.
The court has scheduled the next hearing for October 15.
It can be remembered that on May 9, 2023, PTI’s legislators and supporters attacked the military facilities throughout Pakistan after the arrest of the president of the party for the paramilitary festions.
The protests had exploded throughout the province, particularly in Peshawar, Mardan, Mohmand and Khyber.

Later, the Government launched a hard hand repression against the former ruling party while registered Fir against thousands of people, including the founder of PTI Imran Khan.
More than 100 workers and PTI supporters were also delivered to the military authorities for their trial in the military courts.
The cases were recorded in several districts of the province, most of which were presented under the anti -terrorist positions.
Until now, the courts have dismissed a total of 29 of these cases, including that registered in Mardan.
