Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has launched a free solar panel scheme aimed at providing sustainable energy solutions to low -income households, said Express News.
According to the initiative, 130,000 homes registered under the EHSAAS program and Benazir’s income support program will receive free solar systems.
In the first phase, 32,500 beneficiaries will be selected through a lottery system, with priority granted to private and highly affected private areas. The scheme also includes orphans, widows, disabled individuals and transgender people.
The households selected through the draw will receive a solar panel, controller, drums, bulbs and a fan.
KP’s Prime Minister Ali Amin Gandapur said the initiative aims to address energy shortage in the province. “We are providing free solar systems to 130,000 people due to electricity problems in the region. Most applications come from Dera Ismail Khan, but we will distribute them for merit, ”he said.
He added that all members of the Provincial Assembly (MPA) have been informed that the selection process will be carried out through a lottery. “Performance should be true competition. KP has always led the performance, and challenge everyone on that basis, ”he said.
