- His casting was announced alongside Jason Ritter, who will play a new role.
The last of us season 3 has added the spell Star Patrick Wilson joins his cast, where he will play the role of Jerry, Abby’s (Kaitlyn Dever) father.
We don’t have specific plot details for season 3 yet, but Jerry’s arrival to the series is a big one. As long-time fans know, he plays a crucial role in Abby’s backstory, after he was killed by Joel (Pedro Pascal), who was the catalyst for her revenge mission.
So Jerry will be crucial to the story of season 3 and I’m very excited to see Wilson take on the role. I’d say it’s a break from the horror genre, but let’s face it, Clickers are just as scary.

This news was revealed by Deadline, which also confirmed that Jason Ritter has been cast and will play the role of Hanley, a WLF soldier. So we have two huge new additions on the way when the HBO show returns.
Their reports also suggested that season 3 will be told from Abby’s perspective.
We may have to wait a bit for the series to return, as it is expected to air in 2027.
Previously, HBO boss Casey Bloys told Variety: “The series is definitely planned for 2027. Craig is still working on whether it will be two more seasons or one longer season. It hasn’t been decided yet, and I’m following Craig’s lead on that.”
We also know that Naughty Dog’s Neil Druckmann will retain a “senior role” for Season 3, having previously stepped down as co-showrunner.
To clear up some confusion, Druckmann told Variety: “I felt like I could fulfill all my responsibilities better if I held myself to a higher level. It was quite a challenge to be so involved as a co-showrunner in seasons 1 and 2, while running a studio and working, directing and writing a game.”
At the moment, we’re all on the edge of our seats waiting for updates, but these two big cast announcements definitely have me looking forward to the next season.
