- The August 11 update is now available
- Comes with a new feature with the aim of recovering a PC that does not start
- There is also an important solution for the stability problems of ironing those that players have Windows 11 24h2
Windows 11 has a new available update that makes some smart presentations, including a new PC recovery capacity and a vital solution for players.
The August patch for Windows 11 24h2 (known as KB5063878) brings a new rapid machine recovery function (QMR) that is a very welcome addition, but it is something that I hope I hope I never really have to do.
This is because this functionality, which is incoming for all Windows 11 users, as Windows Latter highlights, is designed to help recover its PC from a starting failure. That is the most horrible of the computer scenarios in which it cannot even reach the desk, and obviously, that makes it difficult to solve problems of what went wrong with its system.
In these cases, QMR represents a new option in the Windows recovery environment (which can be accessed to try to recover a PC without start), so Windows 11 uses a local network connection to send diagnostic data on the problem of the system yearning to Microsoft. The idea is that these data can (hopefully) use to find a solution, and that this cure can automatically patch.
In summary, its PC will be solved, which is a great idea, obviously, although as I said, I hope to use this functionality, because I prefer not to find a starting failure first. (These are rare incidents, fortunately).
There is also a great addition to co -pilot+ PCs with the August patch, which is the implementation of the first AI agent in Windows 11. This ‘Windows agent’ resides in the configuration application and offers a way to find the options you need with a minimum of fuss. Essentially, it is a search with AI that uses natural language, so you can ask questions in a conversational way, and will also suggest recommended configurations for whatever you are looking for.
While that change is only for co -pilot+ laptops, there is also an adjustment that are obtaining traditional Windows 11 PCs, through which the search box in the configuration has moved to a better and more visible position, focused on the top of the panel.
This last patch also makes the black screen of death, a more simplified version of the old blue screen, be official, although I have my doubts about whether this is an improvement.
The August update for Windows 11 also solves the various stability problems related to the game that have been present in version 24H2, which is a great blessing for players, and there is also a new Gamepad design for the virtual keyboard of the operating system.
For more details about this patch, see my breakdown of the previous version that came out at the end of July, which is essentially the same update (when I was still in the tests as an optional update).
Analysis: Elegant fast solution trick?
The highlight here, at least in terms of the characteristics that reach all Windows 11 PCs (not only to Copilot+devices), it is the recovery of Quick Machine (QMR). This feature will live or die about whether it works well, and how useful it is to solve starting failures, although this, any possibility of additional help so that its PC really reaches the desk will be useful.
The good news is that Windows Last has tried QMR and observed that it has been implemented enough (although the technology site could not try it with a real starting problem).
It is worth noting that when Microsoft previously tested QMR in the preview, the company said it would turn on default for all Windows 11 users. That makes sense, since there really is no reason not to turn on this functionality for everyday people (commercial users will have the decision made by their IT administrators).
Well, then maybe some home users will not like the idea of sending any Data through the cloud to Microsoft, but when it comes to diagnostic information that could cure their PC to start them, saving a great headache in the process, I think that even the more paranoid I would grant that this is more than valuable compensation. And if Microsoft does not have a default activated QMR, the average user can never be aware of the function, or benefit from it if its PC reaches an error that prevents it from starting.
Apart from that, the game solution is also large. Some players who execute Windows 11 24h2 have been seriously frustrated by blockades in Fortnite’s tastes, so I hope this deplies the curtain of that unfortunate episode. (24h2 has been very problematic for PC players, as you will remember).
The AI agent is a great addition to co -pilot+ PCs, and using the search for AI to reinforce is an issue with which Microsoft is moving forward: it is an obvious way to give more depth to a common use skill in different windows areas. Previously, Microsoft took advantage of the main search for Windows 11 (through the box in the taskbar) with AI, which was good to see. In addition, the retirement is another trick of this type for co -pilot+ PCs, although I am not convinced.
