The LHC speaks out against the dismissal of the judges

.

LAHORE:

The Lahore High Court (LHC) has issued notices to the Attorney General of Pakistan and the Attorney General of Punjab, seeking their assistance in a petition challenging the denotification of sitting judges of election tribunals.

The court adjourned the hearing for two weeks.

Justice Khalid Ishaq heard the petition filed by PTI leader Rao Umar Hashim, who was represented by lawyer Sameer Khosa.

The petitioner maintained that modifications were made to the Electoral Law to illegally appoint retired judges to the electoral courts. It was further argued that the ECP has no authority to transfer election petitions from one court to another.
