The MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred lent his support for the so -called Torpedoos, who have captured the attention of fans and baseball experts since the beginning of the 2025 season.
The bats stood out for the first time during the New York Yankees inauguration against Milwaukee brewers. The eyebrows rose even more when New York issued nine homers against the brewers in the second game of the season.

Since then, more players have started using bats, even when the pitchers have complained. But Manfred supported the use in a recent interview.
“I think that problems such as the torpedo and the debate around them demonstrate the fact that baseball still occupies a unique place in our culture, because people get into a complete frenzy about something that really is nothing at the end of the day. Bats comply with the rules,” he told the New York Times.
Manfred added that “players have been moving the optimal point in bats for years” and highlighted the debate on baseball that will be qualifications and assistance.

The member of the Baseball Hall of Fame, Fergie Jenkins, also intervened in the debate in an interview in “The Ricky Cobb Show” by Outkick.
“Well, when you look back in the game when I played in the 60s, the 70s and 80s, the pitcher was practically dominant, and now we are like second -class citizens. Everything has been done for the hitter. As you say, you say that the clock is bigger, you have an excessive glove, which gives you three to seven inches seven inches in the bag ahead of the launch”, said Jenkins.
In addition to the changes in the rule that favor batters, Jenkins said that Torpedo bats are the latest in baseball that will help them.
“There is more a batting surface for the batter, and I think it could increase the batting average, but you will get a better piece of wood in the ball and the ball may travel a little more,” he said.

“Who knows? An extra-base successes, and now a batter sees one of his teammates use it. Now, he wants to use it. I can believe before the All-Star Break each ball club has half a dozen batters using that bage of torpedo.”
