According to rescue officials, a massive fire that exploded on Saturday morning near an oil refinery in the Karachi Korangi area continued in more than 12 hours.

The fire exploded during a deep excavation in a place located 1,800 feet under the ground. Seven vehicles from the Fire Brigade have been deployed to board the fire, but the authorities are still struggling to control it.

According to a Korangi police statement, he also confirmed that the fire began while drilling groundwater in the Korangi Creek area.

So far no victims have been reported, and workers at the excavation site, together with nearby residents, have been evacuated to security. However, the exact cause of the fire is still clear, since the authorities still investigate the incident.

The Edhi Foundation, an important charitable organization in Pakistan, confirmed that an ambulance and volunteers were on the scene, although no injuries have been reported.

The Senior Superintendent of Police Tariq Nawaz, along with other officers, are present at the site. Police added that the intensity of the fire has increased, which caused the deployment of additional officers of the nearby police stations.

Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) teams are also on the scene, helping with the answer.

The governor of Sindh, Kamran Khan Treasori, expressed concern about the ongoing fire, urging Karachi Syed Hassan Naqvi commissioner to take quick measures. The governor emphasized the need for immediate measures to contain fire and ensure that helicopters are available if necessary.
