The American representative Lori Trahan, D-Mass., Traced her republican colleagues this week, saying that they politicize the controversial issue of transgender athletes who compete against girls and women.
The Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association is one of the three state athletic organizations to say that they will continue to allow trans athletes to compete against biological women despite the recent executive order of President Donald Trump that prevents them from doing so.
This has led Trump’s Department of Education to launch Title IX probes against the Athletic Federations of Massachusetts, Minnesota and California.
“Are we going to say no to those trans children? Can’t be part of a team, you can’t learn the camaraderie and be part of your community and feel a sense of belonging? It is simply cruel,” Trahan said, through the Boston Globe.

Trahan, who said he has not heard much protest from the parents in his state, added that he believes that the problem should be for each individual sports, non -political body.
“They are experts. They are dedicated to their sports and to create fair and responsible rules of participation. Many of them have already implemented changes to guarantee equity and security,” he said.
“I think that is where decisions must be made, but it does not prevent my Republican colleagues from armen this problem, and as a result it has many consequences.”

The NCAA, despite the fact that President Charlie Baker said in December that he knew of less than 10 transgender athletes in the association, recently followed Trump’s order and prohibited transgender athletes from competing against women.
“You can’t ignore the [NCAA’s] Data “Trahan said,” but he doesn’t stop them. They think he is a political winner for them. Whether they believe it or not, it doesn’t even matter. They have established such a dangerous narrative in our country about denying the existence of trans people.
“There are many scarce out there, so now someone accuses a girl who does not look feminine enough or has no hair pigtails?” Trahan added. “How do you have to demonstrate [her gender]? It is a bad policy formulation. It is politics at its worst. “

The debate reached a new level almost three years ago when Lia Thomas, a transgender swimmer in Penn, won a title of Division I. Trump issued her executive order as part of her plan announced to “ban” Trans athletes compete against girls and girls women while campaigning.
