Bernhard Langer was a blow from history in the Masters Friday.
Langer, 67, needed to make the torque at the 18th hole in Augusta National to remain in 2 in OVER, remain below the projected cutting line and become the oldest player to make the cut in the history of Masters.
Langer hit the street in torque 4 18, but his approach shot fell from the side of the green and rolled in an area of seats.

While Langer walked to his ball, he received an ovation standing from fans who greeted the 1985 and 1993 teacher champion. He announced that this year’s tournament was going to be his final competitive appearance in Augusta.
Langer contributed his third shot right beyond the Green Strip and left himself a long Putt Par. It was good, but not good enough. He hit right beyond the hole and lost the pair required to make the cut.
Langer took advantage of Bogey and left Green 18 for the last time as a competitor of another ovation. When he left, he was received by his family and his classmate teachers.

The two -time Masters champion was in a strong position to cut the cut, but a double bogey in hole 15 was a great blow to his chances of cutting.
Langer said he had a “horrible ending” by referring to his mistakes in holes 15 and 18.
Fred Couple, who has the record of the oldest to make the cut in Augusta, also had the opportunity to rewrite his own record, but also ended badly with a 4 over during the first two days.
Langer debuted in 1982 as Germany’s first participant in the prestigious tournament.
