Nintendo has released a new trailer for Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, which will be released in less than a month, on December 4, 2025.
The short trailer lasts just over a minute, but is packed with new details related to bounty hunter Samus Aran’s next adventure. That is, we can see a lot more in terms of environmental design, enemy encounters, boss fights and much more.
Look
In terms of environments, this new ‘Survive’ trailer combines areas we’ve seen before and some we haven’t. The new locations include a fiery cavern with a towering spire in the background, a network of icy tunnels, and a rather precarious-looking bridge that Samus seems to have difficulty keeping her balance on.
Another nice detail I’ve noticed is that Samus’s ray cannon seems to be worn out, deteriorated by the more extreme climates, as we see in the colder looking locations. His visor also appears to be speckled with flecks of frost.
The trailer also shows off some of Samus’ new psychic abilities, but it still doesn’t reveal much here. An interesting use of them seems to be the ability to reveal hidden platforms, and I have to imagine they’ll occasionally be used to hide upgrades like energy tanks and missile expansions in addition to regular progression.
Of course, it wouldn’t be new. Metroid Prime 4: Beyond trailer without another look at Samus on her bike, which was initially shown in the last big Nintendo Direct. There’s not much new here, but we do see Samus shooting enemies from the sky, performing wheelies freely, and finishing off the trailer with a sweet akira-slide style.
The trailer ends with another glimpse of Sylux, a rival bounty hunter for the Nintendo DS. Metroid Prime Hunters and apparently one of the main antagonists in Beyond. Once again, he doesn’t do much more than look vaguely menacing, levitating ominously above Samus. But it gives the impression that you have a pending score that you want to settle.
It was a brief preview, but certainly enough to tide me over until Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Releasing December 4 for Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. I’ve already waited eight years; What’s one more month?
