The Minister of Defense of Tajikistan calls on COAS


Both parties express their determination to improve existing military-to-military collaboration.

RAWALPINDI:

Tajikistan Defense Minister Colonel General Sobirzoda Emomali Abdulrahim on Friday called on Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir at the General Headquarters (GHQ).

During the meeting, issues of mutual interest, regional security and bilateral defense cooperation were discussed, said a press release issued by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

Both sides expressed their determination to improve existing military-to-military collaboration, particularly in the areas of training, counterterrorism and regional security.

The visiting dignitary appreciated the professionalism of Pakistan Army and acknowledged its role in promoting regional stability and peace.

The COAS, while emphasizing the importance of collective efforts for regional stability and prosperity, reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening defense and security ties with Tajikistan.

On Friday, President Asif Ali Zardari, while calling Tajikistan a bridge to the heart of Central Asia, equally called Pakistan its gateway to international waters as the two states can play an important role in promoting peace and stability in the region.

The President made these remarks during a visit by the Minister of Defense of Tajikistan, Colonel General Sabirzoda Emomali Abdulrahim, here in Aiwan-e-Sadr, according to a press release from the Presidency.
