The Ministry of Finance has refuted reports that attribute a statement to the Minister of Finance Muhammad Aurengzeb about an increase in the salaries of government employees, said Express News.
In a clarification issued on Monday, the Ministry declared that the Minister of Finance did not make any announcement on the floor of the National Assembly. He added that the reports that suggest otherwise “are not based on facts.”
“The Minister of Finance did not mention any review of salary scales or salary increases for government employees in their speech,” said the ministry.
The clarification follows previous reports that claim that the next federal budget does not include any proposal to increase the wages and pensions of government employees.
The Ministry also declared that a written answer to a parliamentary question was provided, informing the Chamber that, at present, no proposal is considering reviewing the salary scales or significantly increasing wages and assignments for federal employees in the next fiscal year.
