The Ministry seeks registration of Afghan students

Peshawar:

In the midst of the ongoing repatriation campaign, the Federal Interior Ministry has sought a record of Afghan students enrolled in educational institutions in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

According to the sources, the Ministry’s security cell has sent an official letter to the provincial Secretary, which ordered him to present details of all Afghan students before March 27.

The letter establishes that the foreign national security cell is updating the database of its foreign citizen and requires information for this purpose.

The application occurs when the government intensifies its repatriation campaign against illegal foreign residents and the owners of the Afghan Citizen Card (ACC).

The deadline for its departure is seven days away, and Pakistan has already deported more than 876,000 undocumented Afghan nationals.

The repatriation process is still ongoing.

The Federal Government has established March 31 as the final deadline for illegal Afghan citizens to leave the country, ensuring that no abuse occurs during the process.

The authorities have also completed arrangements for food and medical care facilities for those who return to Afghanistan.

The authorities warned that strict legal measures will be taken against people who do not leave Pakistan after the deadline.

The Federal Government’s decision follows its previous directives who demand the departure of all illegal foreign citizens, including Afghan citizens, before March 31.

Previously, the interim administration led by the Taliban in Kabul had appealed to Islamabad so that an extension that allowed undocumented Afghan residents in Islamabad and Rawalpindi stayed longer.

However, Pakistan rejected this request.

Afghan citizens who have valid travel documents for relocation to another country can remain in Pakistan until March 31. After this deadline, they must also leave.

Those who have a valid Pakistani visa can continue their stay during the duration specified in their visa.

Reports have indicated that the government is the opinion that the expulsion of Afghan citizens has become inevitable due to security concerns and sensitivity of twin cities.

According to the statistics published by the Chief of Afghan refugees (CCAR) commissioner in February, Pakistan houses approximately 2.9 million Afghan refugees. Of these, 1.4 million are registered, while 0.7 million remain undocumented.
