Karachi:
The landing train wheel that disappeared during the take -off of a PIA plane to Lahore has finally been located in a remote corner of the Karachi airport.
According to the PAA, the missing wheel was found near the remote parking bay at the Jinnah International Airport, near the II Hangar Chundarigar.
The wheel store technicians saw the Airbus A320 wheel that is near the Boeing 777 landing train.
The investigations have revealed that the wheel was separated during takeoff, however, the problem remained without reporting until the plane landed in Lahore, which raised serious concerns about aviation safety standards.
The Aviation Authority and the PIA engineering team are carrying out comprehensive investigation to avoid such incidents in the future.
Initial reports suggest that possible reasons behind the detachment of this critical component could include deficiencies in maintenance procedures, manufacturing and fatigue defects of the material.
Given the strict storage requirements for the spare parts of the aircraft, where factors such as temperature and integrity of the material are closely controlled, this incident has caused deeper scrutiny.
Airbus, the aircraft manufacturer, communicated with the PIA and launched a detailed technical investigation on the matter.
He has requested a full incident report that includes flight data records of the last three months, verification lists and maintenance history and an integral evaluation of the landing train and other critical systems.
