- PRO-JECT launches new pre -mpsaded ampas based on valves: a compact, a full size one
- Replaceable valves and broad support for mm and MC turns
- £ 240 and £ 529 respectively
Pro-Gject has announced two new phono preamples, the E E Box E and the Box S3 B tube. Both products bring the heat of the valves to its rotating plate configuration, and the very affordable tube box would be a particularly good update for vinyl fans with a budget.
The Box E tube is based on the well -received subway box S2, and has been made with more affordable components to reduce the price: where the Tube Box S2 is currently sold for around £ 339 in the United Kingdom, the Tube Box E is £ 240 (around $ 325 / au $ 500).
If you have invested in an affordable option among the best headdresses, but now you are thinking that you may like to start playing with sound, and, in particular, add the warmth of tube amplifiers to your system, this seems really tempting.
The Tube Box S3 B is a preamplifier with the highest specification, but it is still relatively affordable to £ 529 (around $ 715 / au $ 1,100).
Project Box E and Tube Box S3 B: Key characteristics
The Pro-Project Tube box covers a completely discreet monkey design in its very compact case and comes with replaceable valves, which means that you can change them to change the sonic characteristics or simply renew them when they finally wear out.
The tube box admits a wide range of moving coil cartridges and moving magnet, with adjustable gain configurations in the front of the unit and tuning of capacitance and impedance through immersion switches in the lower part of the preamplifier.
Pro-gect says that the Tube Box and offers “high-end qualities at a price level price”, and given the name, I suppose it is perfect for the Juke E1 Pro-Aject ship that I checked, or the new newer juke box e1.2 that was recently revealed, which lacks a built-in phono stage.
The most expensive and highest specification tube box is also based on valves, and once again the valves are replaceable. The S3 B tube has a totally symmetrical and discreet gain stage, designed to match a taddiscos ready for balance through its 5-pin mini-XLR entry.
It is larger than the t tube box, so all the adjustments are on the front panel, with an adjustable gain of 40-65DB, multiple options for capacitance and impedance and the ability to connect two headdresses at the same time: one unbalanced and another balanced, with the box of tubes S3 B remembering the configurations for each one and remembering them when it changes between them.
Both models are for sale in the United Kingdom since August 2025: I would expect the launch of the United States to continue shortly after, based on the recent history of the Pro -Ject, with prices announced closer to time (depending on current rates).
