- James Gunn’s next DCU project will debut at the end of August
- His latest teaser has revived a fierce fans of fans about the successful comic television program
The official trailer for Pacifier Season 2 is finally here, and has revived a debate of long -lasting fans on which parts of the program are canon in the DC (DCU) universe.
Throwed online after its premiere in San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) 2025, the teaser gives us a much clearer image about its plot. Before entering that and the debate of the fans mentioned above, see the last advance of the HBO Max series below if you have not yet done:

Attend
We already knew Pacifier Season 2 would explore the Multiverse DC. In fact, his first trailer confirmed that Chris Smith/Pacifier of John Cena would travel to an alternative reality using the Quantum deployment chamber (QUC) of his deceased father Auggie.
The new dimension pacifier is in a much more idyllic version of the universe that it also occupies. In him, his variant is a famous hero, while Auggie and Chris’s brother, who are dead in the Pacemaker universe, are alive and good. It also seems that the variant of the pacifier that lives in this parallel dimension is in a relationship with Emilia Harcourt, who rejected the progress of the peacemaker we know (let’s call him Pacemaker 1.0) in the universe of the latter. Then, Peacemaker 1.0 will surely be divided between wanting to stay in this alternative universe, or return to his own where his true friends are.
We also obtain glimpses of other alternative realities in this trailer, including one in which giant skull spiders roam for a dystopian landscape. Will we visit these kingdoms in one of the best HBO Max Sophomore shows? I doubt it, but that could be the best for any aracnophobes among you.
Why the new trailer of Peacemaker season 2 does not definitely respond if it is a canon in the DCU
But returning to the burning online debate to which I alluded. Before the DC Studios James Gunn and Peter Safran co -presides were hired, at the end of 2022, to restart the Cinematic Universe of Live Action of DC Comics (that is, the DCU), Pacifier Season 1 was officially part of the now disappeared DC Universe Extended (DCEU).
When Gunn announced the complete alignment of chapter one of DCU, also known as ‘gods and monsters’, in January 2023, Pacifier Season 2 was not mentioned among these projects. However, later that year, he revealed Pacifier 2 Not only was it in process, but it would also be part of chapter one of DCU.
Since then, fans have discussed whether the events of Pacifier Season 1 is canon in the DCU. The spectators have also wondered if 2021’s The suicide squad The film, another DCEU project, Gunn wrote and directed, is part of the DCU. After all, one of the threads of the hung plot of that movie, that is, Smith killing Rick Flag JR, was transferred to PacifierThe first season. It will explore more thoroughly in season 2, with Rick Frank Sr from Frank Grillo trying to hunt Smith and seeking compensation for the death of his son.
If you can’t find peace here, you may find it elsewhere. The story of Superman and the DC continues season 2 of #PaceMaker on August 21. See season 1 again and listen to the official podcast @dcpeacemaker now on YouTube. pic.twitter.com/zvbnjufsakJuly 25, 2025
Recently, Gunn has tried to address PacifierCanonicity in the DCU. Speaking with Den of Geek, Gunn said: “There are certain things from the old universe [the DCEU] to which we refer to in Pacifier Season 2. But, until then, they are not canon. Almost everything in season 1 is Canon, but season 2 will explain everything that is or not canon. “
Gunn doubled those appointments during a conversation with Entertainment Weekly in SDCC 2025. Then, a closed case, right? After all, if someone is going to have the last word about what Canon is or not, it will be one of the co-zo of DC Studios.
For many fans, that is the only test they need. However, I, and, if you look at some online reactions after the launch of the last trailer of season 2, others like me, do not believe it is so clear.
On the one hand, it is Peacemaker 1.0 traveling to the DCU from the DCEU, or already exists in the DCU and travels to other DC Comics Universe? The latter seems more likely, especially when season 2 continues the history of pacifier 1.0 from The suicide squad and season 1 of its homonymous television program.
That said, if it already exists in the DCU, how is it that the DCEU Justice League makes a cameo at the end of season 1? Yes, Gunn has said his appearance it’s not Canon in the DCU, but then they would not exist in this universe if season 1 were part of the DCU, so how could they appear in the first place? You can see why some spectators, including myself, are baffled by the darkness of everything.
In this situation, wouldn’t it be better for Gunn and Safran to definitely say what Canon is? Of course, that could spoil some great stories in season 2, so I understand your concern. However, if they do not want to spend the entire press tour of season 2 answering the same question again and again, it could be better if the couple confirms what parts of Pacifier and The suicide squad They are canon in the DCU. That would be a great help when updated my DC movies in the orders guide too!
But what do you think? Does it matter what canon is in the DCU? Should we be patient and wait answers once? Pacifier Is season 2 on August 21? Or Gunn and Safran need to completely address everything I have outlined previously? Answer me in the comments.
