- AMD RDNA 4 GPUs are not even on the best classified Steam graphics cards
- Nvidia Blackwell GPU, on the other hand, are advancing ahead
- The NVIDIA GPUs are also selling AMD on Amazon, and is beginning to feel that the network team is fighting a lost battle, which is not good news for consumers
As Julio begins, we have a couple of sets of GPU figures to digest: the Steam hardware survey and classifications for best -selling graphics cards in Amazon in the United States. And it seems that these are worrying times for AMD.
First, let’s see the Steam survey for last month (June), in which the Nvidia Blackwell GPU (introduced from the beginning of this year) are doing much better than the newcomers RDNA 4 AMD graphics cards.
As Tom’s Hardware realized, NVIDIA now has 3.7% of Steam players who execute their Blackwell GPU, and that includes 0.99% to have an RTX 5070 (the best performance), with 0.55% using an RTX 5070 TI. Even the powerful (and very expensive) RTX 5090 has now been recorded in the Steam classifications, although close to the bottom, with 0.19%.
Of course, given its price, which Blackwell Flagship is a very niche proposal for players, and yet it is ahead of RX 9070 XT, which does not have enough market share to even register for Valve classifications.
In fact, the same is true for each model of the new RDNA range 4 of AMD, none of which is present in the June survey. (All are grouped with the category ‘other’ that represents 8% of the GPUs that do not have enough participation to register, less than 0.15%, to be precise).
Moving to Amazon’s sales figures, as provided by regular Leaker technology in X (highlighted by WCCFTech). This is a less extreme image for AMD, but it is still worrying.
🔥 Retail sales of GPU JuneJuly 4, 2025
Fortunately, RX 9070 XT is not completely out of the radar here, since it is steamed. Nor would I expect it to be, previous reports of the retailers (apply condiments) have indicated that it has been changing the shelves at a rate quickly. However, in Amazon’s sales statistics (USA) for June, the AMD GPU is still behind its great Nvidia rivals.
The best -selling graphics card in Amazon in June was the NVIDIA RTX 5070 with 5,450 units, followed by RTX 5060 TI (4,950 units) and the RTX 5070 TI was third (4,400). The 9070 XT RX is the fourth most popular GPU with 3,800 units sold, but other RDNA 4 models are far from the rhythm (Vanilla Rx 9070 only sold 850, and did not even reach the first 10).
In general, Nvidia is increasing 70% of sales (and almost 80% of income, as expected, given some of the heavy Blackwell price labels), and AMD must remain scratching to some extent to some extent.
Analysis: bad news for consumers
Well, then RX 9070 XT is not selling anything in any way, we know. But it is selling 15% less than the rival RTX 5070 TI, at least with these June figures of Amazon (again, add salt). That must be a bit exasperating for the red team.
This is an AMD GPU that offers the same level of performance as the 5070 TI (DLSS 4 apart), with the 9070 XT box velocities that have been promoted considerably in recent times due to the improvements of Radeon controllers, and still pays much more for the Nvidia graphics card. As we discussed yesterday, the value proposal of 9070 XT is a good stronger business today, and seems to be a good time to buy the GPU. Remember, all this is launched in a context of the technical balls of Nvidia with their RTX 5000 range, and a complete loading of controllers who have thrown a bleak cloud over Blackwell.
So, frankly, it is completely disconcerting that RX 9070 XT has not yet registered in the GPU classification for the Steam survey. I mean, I can only imagine that this AMD graphics card is only out of the table, and to do it perhaps next month, even then, it would still be very slow (if it happens). Particularly when he considers that, as noted, even the stupidly expensive RTX 5090 is in the ranking now.
All this seems quite disconcerting in many ways, and is, of course, bad news for consumers. RDNA 4 is a wide variety of graphics cards, RX 9070 XT is a particular strong interpreter. And yes, the retail prices of the real world granted have not been so close to their MSRP, which is disappointing, but neither has the RTX 5070 TI, and the AMD GPU is currently a much better value proposal.
So what does it give? Honestly, I don’t know, but the hopes that were burning quite fiercely in AMD finally recovering the nvidia grass in the desktop GPU wars now seem to be dying.
Of course, we cannot rule out RDNA 4 yet, in any way. He is beginning to feel that AMD has an steep, or even almost vertical climb, to begin to return to NVIDIA, to significantly challenge the long domination of the GPU world of the Team Green team. In spite of all the problems around Blackwell, Nvidia does not seem to be breaking the step, and in fact their sales of graphics cards of average range in particular, the RTX 5070 and 5070 TI, they are beginning to gather more rhythm.
