- Audze LCD-S20 are its cheapest magnetic headphones
- Sewn, with smlam technology for large serious
- Available as of May 2025, for £ 499 / $ 499 (around AU $ 1,045)
There are two things that I know are true: flat magnetic headphones sound fantastic, and flat magnetic headphones are often terribly expensive. But the recently announced AUDEZE announced headphones are a fraction of the price of the flagship cans of the same firm, only £ 499 / $ 499 / around AU $ 1,045.
That remains high price among the best cable headphones, but these could be excellent: we have reviewed the flat audience games of Audoeze, the Audoeze LCD-X, and we think they were phenomenal (and heavy, some of an audience tradition: these new headphones are 550 g).
We said that “the LCD-X faces the foot with some of the best dynamic controllers in the market without sweating.” So I am intrigued by the new LCD-S20, which promise similar Sonics by considerably less effective.
AUDEZE LCD-S20: Key features
The Audoeze LCD-S20 headphones are closed return models, which means that they will passively block an external sound, and are the first flat headphones to obtain Audoeze Slam technology. That is the abbreviation of the symmetrical linear acoustic modulator and we saw it for the first time on the flagship, and almost $ 6K / £ 4.5K – CRBN2 electrostatic headphones last year.
Slam uses finely tune in acoustic channels to offer a more linear diaphragm movement, and according to Audeze, that means a significantly improved and more precise bass, as well as better images. The promise here is somewhat closer to the Sonics open with closed return insulation.
The drivers are 90 mm and have a trio of bold technologies: flow magnets, fazor wave guides and uniforce voice coils that “offer the quality of precise and ultra -low distortion sound by which Audze is known.”
The chassis is based on that of the Maxwell headphones and presents a spring steel headband, forged aluminum yolks and nylon parts with high -resistance glass infusion.
The LCD-S20 is the first Audoeze headset with a new magnetic pad accessory system that allows you to quickly and easily replace the headphones. And the cable is removable and adjustable between the left and the right to adapt to its configuration.
They are out in May 2025, and we cannot wait to compare them with the best headphones on the ear, we love a plane.
