- Google Wallet now has a built -in payment system for children
- Parents can monitor their children’s transactions and enforce the limits
- The update is being implemented in the coming weeks.
Allowing your children to access your phone’s wallet can be a sure way to quickly lose your savings, but there are also times when you want to let them in, such as when you need to use a digital library card. So what can you do to do it well?
Well, Google believes you have a solution. A new feature for Google Wallet has just been announced that gives children access to limited funds while guaranteeing that parents continue with control. The characteristic is being implemented to users in the US., United Kingdom, Australia, Spain and Poland “in the coming weeks,” says Google.
According to Google’s press release, parents and guardians can “allow their children to access digital payments on their Android device with adequate supervision.” In practice, that means that “children can use Google Wallet to safely touch to pay in stores and keep compatible passes such as event tickets, library cards and gift cards in a convenient place.”
The update comes with incorporated parental controls. “A child’s payment cards can only be added with the parents’ consent,” says Google, “and parents will receive an email every time their child performs a transaction. Parents can also easily track recent purchases, eliminate payment cards and deactivate access to passes in the family link.”
Financial independence
This is not the first time that Google has implemented a friendly payment system for children with parental controls included. In the company Fitbit Ace Lte of the company, for example, children can take advantage of the items, while parents can monitor purchases and reward their young people when the tasks are completed.
Apple also has a similar characteristic integrated in Apple Cash. Parents or guardians can see the recent transactions of a child’s card, choose who can send money, receive notifications when a payment is made, block the child’s Apple cash account and more.
Financial education is a great ability to life for children, so it makes sense to allow them a certain degree of independence here, as are doing Google and others. The built -in controls must go reassure parents, although each family will need to resolve an agreement that works better for them.
