Google has presented new plans to help users improve in coding with a great expansion of its Gemini code assistance platform.
The measure will see the Gemini 2.0 service available for free for developers around the world, with support for more than 20 coding languages offered.
It will also provide the highest use limit currently available, offering 90 times more code terminations per month than other popular free coding assistants, giving the applicants coders space and flexibility to reinforce their skills.

“While well -collected resource organizations are empowering their engineering teams with the latest artificial intelligence capabilities, that level of tools has not always been accessible to students, fans, freelancers and startups,” Ryan J. Salva, senior director , Product management on Google Cloud, indicated in a blog post that announces the news.
“And with a world population of predicted developers to grow to 57.8 million by 2028, we believe that AI should be available for them, whether they can pay it or not, so that they can start building (and competing) with standard digital tools of the future. “
By pointing out that “now everyone can obtain assistance with Gemini’s coding,” the company said the service is “optimized to encode” for users around the world.
He adds that many other popular free coding assistants are limited in their code terminations (often around 2,000 per month), Gemini Code Assist will offer “practically unlimited capacity”, up to 180,000 code terminations per month.
It will also offer a “generous” token context window, with up to 128,000 token support support in the chat, with users capable of easily downloading basic reviews to an AI agent, improving quality and increasing productivity.
The launch will be accompanied by a public prior view of Gemini Code Assist for Github, providing free code reviews and promoted by AI for public and private repositories, which means that the code will not only be written faster, but also better.
Gemini Code Assist will be available in the Visual Studio, Github or IDES code, and users will only need a personal Gmail account to start, without the need for credit card payments.
