New HBO Max series The murders of the yogurt store He arrives at the Transmission Service on August 3, 2025 to tell the heartbreaking story of a case of murder in Austin, Texas, since 1991. At that time, four adolescents were fired in a store called I cannot believe that it was yogurt in the city, and despite being more than 30 years, the crimes have not yet been resolved (although two men served time for the crimes).
Interviews with family and friends of the victims, main police investigators, lawyers, experts and press will be transmitted through the four episodes of the new documentary, which will fall separately weekly on the platform throughout August. It is the first time that we will see the true case of publicly explored crime with such depth. In fact, it marks a moment in time, Austin’s residents still say “they cannot believe.”
For me, it is an absolutely devastating watch even before having seen a single episode, from the victims themselves to the questions that still affect a community three decades later. However, I know that it will be a vital television piece, which means that it is possibly on the way to being the best crime series of the year.

When you are someone who likes the series of true crimes quite regularly (like me), you can often get caught in the fanfare of everything. When an episode ends, a tantilizing cliffhanger is designed to continue watching the next, and nine out of ten times, it is a successful edition. This means that you can often forget the human element in what you are seeing, which can even lead to documentaries for wrong reasons. All this, however, is something The murders of the yogurt store Avoid immediately.
The deaths of Amyrs, 13, Eliza Thomas, 17, Jennifer Harbison, and Jennifer’s sister, Sarah, 15, are obviously so surprising for Austin residents: you would have a stone heart so as not to be overwhelmed by the crudeness of her pain. At the time of the incident, Jennifer and Eliza were simply trying to go through a turn at work, with the two younger girls waiting for an elevator in the front of the store after he closed. An hour before, a man was allowed to use the toilet at the back of the store, and claimed that the back door was open in the process.
When the first to respond arrived at the site about an hour after the closing, they found the four victims, each with a gunshot wound in the head. The fact that there was so much organization and control in the process suggested to officials that the suspect was an adult, with Robert Springsteen, Michael Scott, Maurice Pierce and Forrest Welborn, all suspected of being involved. Scott and Springsteen were released from prison in 2009 after their sentences, with the springsteen condemnation originally dumping in 2006.
All this will be covered with much more detail in The murders of the yogurt storeBut it doesn’t matter where you look in general history, there is a huge sense of sadness and duel. For many spectators, the new HBO Max program will be the first time they listen widely from affected families and friends, or perhaps even heard the case.
In its nucleus, this is exactly what a true crime must be created that must be created, giving voice to those who no longer have it while providing a broader sensation of consciousness. It is strange to say it, but I really want to discover more about the people remembered instead of the crime, even if they move me in the tears in the process.
