- Orange ‘or’ Edition MK II ANC Arphones announced
- 40 mm controllers, 50 -hour battery duration, customizable ANC and 10 band EQ
- $ 229 / £ 169 / About AU $ 352
Orange has announced new headphones, and I think a key trick has been lost again: even if they turn out to be the best headphones ever made, they don’t look very orange.
What I mean by that is that Orange is one of the most recognizable brands in audio thanks to a very consistent visual style. Either a Thunderbird 50 guitar amplifier or the Bluetooth Orange Box speaker, if orange, is orange.
But the new orange headphones ‘or’ MK II are not. And its anterior headphones either.
I think it’s a shame, because Orange has generally been very faithful to his history of orange iconic amps.
Marshall has always nailed this absolutely, so, for example, his latest Bluetooth speakers look like small Marshall amplifiers, and their Bluetooth headphones look like the small marshall speaker cabinets of someone in the ears.
But for my eyes, these new orange headphones seem to be Sony headphones in a personalized McLaren color color. Marshall’s things are great because Rock and Roll evokes in a way that indelibly tied to the design of guitar equipment: is that the atmosphere you get here?
Orange ‘or’ Edition MKII: key features and prices
Look aside, the specification here seems to be decent: 40 mm voice coil controllers, ANC with three preset modes and customization in the application, a customizable equalization of 10 bands and touch controls in the right headphones.
There are Bluetooth 5.2, a 3.5 mm Aux cable included for cable connections, and up to 50 hours of battery, with a fast 15 -minute charge that delivers a claimed game time.
And the price is also competitive: $ 229 / £ 169 / Around AU $ 352. That puts it in line with the tastes of Sennheiser Accentum Plus or the Sony Ult Wear headphones: Good medium range products, and there is definitely a margin for more players of great sound in this region among the best headphones that fall into noise.
Orange ‘or’ Edition MK II headphones are available to buy now.
I understand why these are not bright orange in a world where headphones tend to be black or beige. But I still think that it is a bit like the Nike shoes without the Swoosh, Adidas without the stripes, Netflix without the Tu-Dum: all the reason why orange amplifiers are oranges was to make them stand out from their no more black rivals.
