- Nvidia has launched another Geforce Hotfix controller to address several problems
- The new Hotfix 576.26 controller comes just after the Hotfix 576.15 controller
- The problems of black screens and Bsod remain
The launch of the GPU of the NVIDIA RTX 5000 series has apparently triggered a flood of driver problems, with reports of black screens and cases of the dreaded blue screen of death (BSOD) since the first driver was launched ready for the first game 572.16 for RTX 5090 and RTX 5080. Unfortunately, six drivers later, similar problems remain.
Nvidia has now launched a new Geforce Hotfix driver 576.26, available on its support page, which includes solutions for several games and problems related to clashes. Its arrival occurs almost immediately after an earlier hotfix (576.15) for the Mainline Ready 576.02 game controller, which was released to address an important temperature sensor error and other visualization problems.
However, users still express complaints about problems such as black screens when installing new controllers. In some cases, this prevents users from accessing the Windows login screen; Instead, they find a load cursor and a black screen. Many besieged PC players went to Reddit to express their concerns, as you can see:

It is clear that Team Green is working hard to address these problems, and the consecutive versions of Hotfix are an indication of that. However, it is not exactly a good aspect in regards to consumers, especially those who seek to obtain a new RTX 5000 series GPU (such as the RTX 5060 TI or the next RTX 5060), since the new drivers ready of games are often launched specifically to admit new new GPUs.
While drivers launched since 572.16 have been stable for some users, it is not the case for all. NVIDIA currently advises the owners of the RTX 5000 series that install 572.xx controllers that add official support for their functionality, so returning to older controllers is not really possible for users with these GPUs. I am currently reviewing a laptop RTX 5000-series, and I have been lucky to not experience any problem, but judging by previous Reddit comments, many have not had so much luck.
I have stayed with Game Ready Driver 572.47 for months, and I do not regret
To put it in a few words, this is the worst The series of launch problems of the GPU controller I have seen, since users have been informing problems for months. I understand that Team Green is working hard to address these problems, and applaud it, but players who spend their money earned with such effort in GPU will not be pleased at all.
I was lucky to dodge the driver -related complications. As I highlighted before, trying to install a new controller left me with a black screen, forcing a restart, which later left me stuck on another black screen with a load cursor.
Initially I thought this was caused by the problematic Windows 11 24h2 update, so my solution was to start Windows in the recovery mode and uninstall the last quality update, which finally allowed me to return to my system. It was only later, when I realized that other users of the NVIDIA GPU reported the same problems, that I returned to the driver 572.47, and I have been free of important problems since then.
There is nothing more that can suggest apart from finding a controller that is stable for your system and avoiding any new version until there is absolutely certain that these problems have been solved. Hopefully the time comes soon …
