- Mario Kart World version 1.6.0 has been released
- Update adds new Bob-omb Blast Battle mode
- Tweaks have been made to certain elements, along with a ton of bug fixes.
A new software update for Mario Kart World has been released, adding a ton of gameplay tweaks and bug fixes plus a new Battle mode.
According to the latest patch notes for version 1.6.0, Nintendo has introduced the Bob-omb Blast Battle mode, which long-time fans of the series may be familiar with.
This mode, which also appeared in Mario Kart 8 Deluxetasks players with popping their opponents’ balloons in exchange for points by launching all 10 Bob-ombs at their disposal, and the player with the most points at the end of the match wins.
Article continues below.
In Mario Kart WorldThe distance Bob-ombs can be thrown depends on how long you hold the L button on Nintendo Switch 2.
In addition to a new Battle mode, Nintendo has also introduced a number of balance adjustments across the board, including performance changes to Bullet Bill and boomerang items.
For Bullet Bill, his lateral movement range has been increased, as well as his speed on parts of the Bowser’s Castle, Starview Peak, and Rainbow Road courses, and it is now easier to follow a shortcut route immediately after using it.
The boomerang, however, has been weakened and now has a reduced range and a reduced number of consecutive throws allowed.
The items in general have also been adjusted for all courses, and the probability of obtaining them in boxes, although we do not know if it increases or decreases.
The game’s invincibility time mechanic after spinning or crashing during a race has also been adjusted, but “varies by character and vehicle”, and the “heavier the weight, the longer the invincibility time.”
Additionally, when playing single player or 1p in online play and wireless play, up to two warnings will now be displayed when items like Red Shells or Spiny Shells come from behind, and the time it takes for the wheel to stop to determine the course in online play and wireless play has been shortened.
