- Flexxon’s high security SSD offers protection against manipulation
- The X-Ph Guard solution has slower speeds than consumer units, but focuses on security
- It seems destined to be a niche product, since the launch for a broader market is not yet confirmed
The Singapore -based security company, Flexxon, has launched what calls the first solid state unit with integrated artificial intelligence security.
Marked as the X-Py Guard solution, the product combines a SSD with monitoring promoted by AI and a subscription service that costs from $ 249 per year.
The unit is launched as a last line of defense, with characteristics destined to protect the data even if other security layers fail.
Lite Editions, Essential and Premium
The device can monitor ransomware, cloning, environmental interference and temperature changes that manipulation may indicate.
If an unusual activity is detected, the device can be blocked and alerted to the user.
Access can be restored through authentication, or in extreme cases, data can be cleaned to avoid unauthorized use.
Flexxon is launching its SSD to high security users, including government agencies and industrial operators.
The X-Py unit is based on the PCIE NVME M.2 hardware with 3D Flash Nand, matched with a controller that executes firmware that integrates the quantum engine AI One Core of the company.
The company has not revealed exactly how its engine works, so we are not sure if the system works independently of a host or is based on a combination of hardware and software processes.
The X-Py comes in Ediciones Lite, Essential and Premium. Lite, with a price of $ 249 a year, provides a smaller set of features with ransomware monitoring and food block.
Essential is based on that with the detection of cloning and environmental interference alerts for $ 359 a year.
Premium offers the complete package, add temperature monitoring, handling alerts and the option to delete data automatically, with a price of $ 489 per year.
The X-Py comes with 1 TB of storage, but with sequential reading speeds of up to 1,700 MB/Sy Write Speeds up to 1,200 Mb/s is well below the consumption NVME SSDs that reach more than 3,000 MB/s.
Camellia Chan, founder and executive director of Flexxon, said: “With innovations such as X-Ph, we will be better equipped to take advantage of the benefits of technology while we save ourselves against the growing cyber threats.”
Flexxon says it intends to extend availability beyond business clients, but it is not known when it will happen.
For now, the X-Ph remains a niche product designed to add a safety layer based on additional hardware at a cost.
