- Microsoft has revealed its new Windows road map portal
- The road map aims to clarify exactly what features are incoming for Windows 11 and when they will arrive
- The idea is to reduce any confusion in terms of future functionality, although they are still the first days for the portal.
Have you ever been confused about what is happening with incoming changes for Windows 11? I would not blame you: I end up scratching my head for a little time regarding the characteristics that are in process, and I write about the Microsoft operating system to make a living (among many other technological issues, that is).
Microsoft recognizes a lack of clarity about the characteristics that progress through Windows 11 tests, and wishes to improve the situation with a new innovation in the form of a road map.
As Windows Central reports, the new Microsoft Windows road map portal is already live, and the company describes the reasoning behind the new website on a blog post.
Microsoft states that: “The Windows roadmap provides estimated launch dates and descriptions for the characteristics that are published. All information is subject to changes. As a characteristic or product is canceled or postponed, the information will be removed from this website.”
So, just because a feature is mentioned in the road map does not mean that it is guaranteed for inclusion in Windows 11 eventually. However, that has always been true for the functionality in the tests: if it does not work, or the testers are giving many negative comments, there is always the possibility that Microsoft will throw a function, and will never see it again. (Or will arise in the future, with a somewhat different appearance, maybe).
Analysis: First days for a useful portal
An initiative like this is, of course, a Microsoft Elable. However, if he click and examined the publication of the previous blog, he surely noticed that he is aimed at IT professionals, those who manage computers for organizations. This is because when you have to deal with a PC fleet that Windows 11 executes, there is a lot of complexity involved, and you really need to stay completely aware of the changes that could be close to the operating system.
But still, the average consumer, like me or you, will probably also find the new Windows roadmap useful to navigate, just to see what new features are on the horizon. Or, if there is a capacity that is really interested and that it still does not have, you could use the portal to clarify if the Windows 11 PCs are really being implemented and what is the expected general availability date.
It should also help clarify confusion when certain characteristics seem to omit the trial channels. There are four of these uses of Microsoft, from the first (Canarian channels) to just before the version (Preview Channel), and sometimes the characteristics will appear in posterior channels, without even being presented to the first testers.
In summary, this invention should allow you to more easily track the progress of everything that is in process for Windows 11, although looking at the road map now, I still meet some minor points of confusion.
Let’s take an example of the PC specifications cards, which were hidden at the bottom of test compilations earlier this year, before suddenly entering, and then practically directly in the last update of preview of Windows 11 this week (before launching next month). The progress of that particular characteristic in the tests was lost and lost, and their rapid change through gears was quite strange to witness.
So what does the Windows roadmap say about these specifications cards? First, that the deployment start date is March 2025, and what that means is that the characteristic is only being implemented, which means a gradual implementation, so that even if you have installed the update of prior view of March, it is possible that it does not see it (yet). The expected availability is listed as the “monthly update without security of April 2025”, which means that the pre -view update occurs at the end of April.
What I do not understand here is that surely the broad availability will be the complete patch of May 2025 (what will the update of prior view of April 2025 become), since all discharge the preview or the optional updates (without security). Most people only get the complete launch, so that the following update in May would surely represent the complete availability of the function. Wouldn’t I?
Okay, maybe I am recording here, and I understand that the essence is that for the complete update (not prior) in April, the PC specifications cards will still be implemented, and everyone will not be provided, but I think Microsoft could transmit this in a better way.
Anyway, even if there are some wrinkles to go, that is, of course, the first days for the road map, and should be a useful tool in terms of monitoring what is imminent for Windows 11.
