The Night Agent season 3: is there a release date?
New York, Washington, DC, Türkiye, Mexico, Dominican Republic… We hit them all. Season 3 of #TheNightAgent has officially wrapped production. @netflix @SPTVJuly 14, 2025
Until The night agent Season 3 release date, we don’t have one yet. But, as of July 14, we know that the cast and crew have officially wrapped production, giving us a little idea of when we can expect it.
Thanks to an Add Washington DC, Mexico, and the Dominican Republic to the list of locations.
If I had to make a prediction on the release date, given that season 2 began filming in February 2024, concluded in June 2024, and premiered in January 2025. I think we might be seeing The night agent season 3 in early 2026, maybe even in January if we’re lucky.
However, there’s no official announcement yet, but I’ll be sure to update here as soon as I hear it.
The Night Agent season 3: has a trailer been released?
there is not a The night agent Season 3 trailer yet, but if the expected release date has anything to do with Season 2 releasing on a similar timeline, it could well be December 2025.
Additionally, a small teaser for season 2 was released in November, ahead of the season 2 release date in January. So, we could see a preview of season 3 starting in November…
The Night Agent season 3: confirmed cast
Gabriel Basso will reprise his role as Peter Sutherland along with some returning and completely new characters that will have a place in The night agent season 3:
- Gabriel Basso as Peter Sutherland
- Fola Evans-Akingbola as Chelsea Arrington
- Ward Horton as Governor Richard Hagan
- Albert Jones as Aiden Mosley
- David Lyons as TBC
- Jennifer Morrison TBA
- Stephen Moyer TBC
- Genesis Rodríguez as TBC
- Callum Vinson TBC
- Suraj Sharma as TBC
You will notice one important missing name of The night agent season 3 cast list and that’s Rose Larkin, played by Luciane Buchanan. Aside from Peter, Rose was the only character to return in Season 2, but she won’t be returning… at least for now.
And showrunner Shawn Ryan also revealed to Deadline that: “We always imagined the show would tell a new story each season with a rotating cast, and the story we introduced for Season 3, much to our chagrin, didn’t have a satisfying place for Rose.”
But you’ll also notice some new names joining the cast, Variety reports. Six, in fact, which shouldn’t be all that surprising to hear given Ryan’s vision of a rotating cast.
While no official details about their characters have been revealed, Deadline reported, “I hear Lyons will play a former spy brought out of retirement, Morrison will play the First Lady, Moyer will play a top hitman, and Rodriguez will play a reporter.”
Despite the push for a different cast, I would still expect the return of Amanda Warren (Catherine Weaver) and Louis Herthum (Jacob Monroe) given how season 2 ended. More on that below.
The Night Agent season 3: story synopsis and rumors
Full spoilers for The night agent Seasons 1 and 2 will follow.
The night agent Season 2 focused on Peter’s first mission as an official night agent, which took him down a dangerous rabbit hole to stop a devastating chemical weapons attack, led by aggressive dictator Viktor Bala.
However, with Viktor in prison, the deadly plan falls to his family, namely his son Tomás and his nephew Markus. Although Markus ultimately led the entire mission down an even more catastrophic path. Fortunately, Peter manages to execute a plan that stops Bala’s men, but not without sacrifice.
Rose tracks down Peter while he is in hiding and helps him use Noor, an Iranian UN aide, to gather information. information inside in exchange for his family’s safety (which didn’t go as planned).
But to discover the location of the deadly chemical weapons while freeing the kidnapped Rose, Peter had to steal a document from the UN building in exchange for the information.
And the man who traded in information was Jacob Monroe, a wealthy and highly influential businessman who traded in highly confidential information for his own benefit and to influence the presidential election.
So despite Ryan’s vision of a new story for each season, it looks like Jacob’s story isn’t over yet. Especially considering Catherine told Peter to do Jacob’s dirty work for him, after he confessed everything that had happened to complete the Night Action mission.
And it looks like the fallout from season 2 will play a big role in what’s to come. Speaking to Deadline, Ryan said: “We’re still crafting season 3, so I’m reluctant to talk too specifically about it. But what I will say is that Peter, because he’s a good, decent person at the end of season 2, realizes that while he got the desired result of saving Rose, stopping the attack on the UN, the actions he took to achieve that had some unintended consequences that could be even greater, such as time, than the things that stopped. “That will be a part of season 3, he tries to deal emotionally and logistically with the unintended consequences of his actions in season 2.”
As for what happens to Peter after season 3, when speaking to Variety Basso may not stick around: “I’m probably going to take a break. I think Peter is making decisions that have to happen. And it would be a disservice to the audience if every season was okay.”
But it’s certainly not over yet. What we also know about season 3 is that it was filmed in multiple locations, even more than season 2, and it takes The night agent around the world for whatever Night Action mission comes up next. I have no doubt it will be full of trickery, action and exciting moments, although I’m not sure I can handle another Javad.
Will there be more seasons of The Night Agent?
There is no official information about more seasons of The night agent. But, speaking with Variety, Ryan has considered the possibility of The night agent continues, even if Peter Sutherland doesn’t confront it: “How long does Gabriel want to do the show? The show is called ‘The night agent.’ It’s not called’The Gabriel Basso show.‘So there may be a time when you decide you want to do something else and there is a different night agent.’
And when Variety asked Basso if we’re talking about 5 or 10 years, he added: “It’ll be sooner,” he says. “The monopoly of youth is energy, and I think I have to turn that into service to be legitimate as a person.” That’s something you’ve certainly never heard Ethan Hunt say, but maybe Basso still has one or two more seasons left in the tank.
If not, maybe the future of The night agent I could swap out Basso for a completely new character. Either way, it will be interesting to see how all of this shapes the upcoming season 3.
