- Nintendo confirms that Switch 2 presents Nvidia DLSS and Ray Tracing
- He did not share what games the technology will support
- Nvidia has also revealed that Switch 2 is fed by a personalized NVIDIA processor
Nintendo has confirmed that Switch 2 will have NVIDIA DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling) and ray layout.
During a round question and answering table in New York after the Big Nintendo Switch 2 Direct yesterday (through IGN), Nintendo revealed that the new console will use technology, but refrained from sharing which version and which Switch 2 games will support it.
“We use DLSS exclusion technology and that is something we need to use as we develop games,” said Takuhiro Dohta, senior director of the Department of Planning and Development of the entertainment of the programming administration group, in the Nintendo entertainment planning and development division.
“And when it comes to hardware, it is able to generate a TV with a maximum of 4K. If the software developer will use it as a native resolution or make it exclusive is something that the software developer can choose. I think it opens many options for the software developer to choose.”
When asked about the Switch 2 GPU, Dohta confirmed that it allows lightning layout, but it was cautious in the details, saying: “As with DLSS, I think this provides another option for the software developer to use them and a tool for them.”
Although Nintendo could not share any details about the GPU itself, NVIDIA has launched a blog post confirming that the Switch 2 works with a personalized NVIDIA processor with a NVIDIA GPU, along with dedicated RT nuclei and tensioner nuclei for “impressive images and improvements with AI”.
Thanks to the new technology, this allows Switch 2 to run in 4K in docked mode and 120 pictures per second (FPS), which we learned yesterday when the specifications were revealed.
The Nintendo Switch 2 will be launched on June 5, 2025 and will cost $ 449.99 / £ 395.99, with anticipated orders scheduled to open on April 8.
