The number of deaths of the Nushki oil explosion has risen to 20, After another injured victim seriously succumbed to burn injuries while undergoing treatment in Karachi, rescue sources confirmed on Tuesday.

The incident occurred near a truck terminal in Nushki when an oil tanker caught and exploded, injuring more than 40 people. Many had gathered around the vehicle before the explosion.

The deceased, identified as Shaukat, was acclaimed by his heroic act during the April 28 incident. Despite being wrapped in flames, he had tried to move the burning oil tanker away from a densely populated area, said Express News.

He replied severe burns when the oil company exploded and had received treatment in a private hospital in Karachi.

Previously, following the tragedy, Baluchistan government spokesman Shahid Rind, expressed his condolences to afflicted families.

He reaffirmed the commitment of the provincial government to provide the best possible medical attention to the injured in the explosion that has gained numerous lives and left the community staggering.

The incident has caused a general concern for the security protocols that surround the transport of hazardous materials.
