The PlayStation Defiant Fight Stick project finally has an official name, along with new details and a vague launch window.
A new PlayStation blog post has revealed that Project Defiant is officially called The Flexstrike, and is currently scheduled to arrive at some point in 2026. The news occurs just before the Evo 2025 Fighting Game Tournament event of Sony in Las Vegas, where Flexstrike will be on display (but not playable) for the first time.
Flexstrike will be compatible with PS5 and PC, and admits the Sony PlayStation PlayStation PlayStation Wireless Technology. Like many of the best fighting sticks, Flexstrike will also be customizable to some extent. A really great feature shown in the trailer (above) is an ‘Toolsss’ door exchange. When opening the grip without sliding at the bottom, players can change between square, circular and octagonal doors on the fly with the joystick. This means that you will not have to buy a separate joystick or door, or use any additional tool to do the job.
The controller has several comforts that will be found in other superior fighting sticks, including a stick input exchange for menu navigation and a lock switch that disables certain buttons (such as pause) for the tournament game. The eight buttons of the face are also mechanical, which means that they must record instant entries and click.
Finally, players can use a Dualsense wireless controller in conjunction with the flexstrike for menu navigation, not very different from what we see with the PlayStation access controller.
PlayStation seems to be investing a lot in the hardware and software of the fighting games. It is likely that flexstrike will be launched almost at the same time as Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, Posted by PlayStation Studios and developed by ARC System Works; The team behind Guilt equipment, try GranBlue Fantasy versus: Rising, And many more of the best fighting games.
Techradar Gaming will be very interested in issuing a verdict on Flexstrike when launched next year, so be attentive for a possible review in 2026.
